Insulate Your House

Tonight, 8 – 9:30 pm, we are very happy to host an event for St Nicks Environmental Centre:

Did you spend last winter shivering or paying lots to heat your home? Would you like to have a warm and comfortable house with lower fuel bills? This inspiring and at times humorous talk by Andy Walker will present a host of straightforward ways to significantly improve the warmth in your home – without it costing the earth.

Andy Walker is the Technical Editor of the best selling Haynes Manual on Home Insulation. Andy also ran the SURE Insulation Community Interest Company in West Yorkshire for four years which successfully installed Super-Insulation in many local homes.

What else will Andy Walker’s talk cover?

• Encouragement to ‘Do It Yourself’ – Andy wrote the central sections of a Guidance Manual for a Housing Association which covers a wide range of techniques for improving insulation and air-tightness. This will be available as a free download for talk attendees.

• The idea of ‘House Warming Parties’ where groups of friends have a tailored workshop to start the project to insulate one of their homes. After the workshop the group of friends will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to work on each other’s homes.

• And for those people who’d like to run their own company to insulate houses – some ideas about how one could be set up in an easy way.

This event is part of our Eco Homes project and St Nicks is keen to help make something like ‘House Warming Parties’ or Carbon Co-op happen in York. If you’d like to be involved, do come along or get in touch.

Entry by Pay As You Feel Donation. Please register interest in attending the talk and the Guidance Manual download via Eventbrite.
